About Us

Our History

In 1983, graduate engineer Hani El-Khouri, after completing his studies at RWTH Aachen, co-founded the Middle East Service Gesellschaft zur Betreuung arabischer Gäste mbH (MESC GmbH) together with two fellow students.

During his studies, he recognised the need of Arab patients for better organisation of their health tourism travels. At the request of the University Hospital Aachen and Senior City Director Dr. Heiner Berger, MESC GmbH took over the care of patients for the hospital.

Service has always been more than just a word for the company. Under the motto "We create points of contact", the company acted as a cultural interface. It was not only organisational excellence and hospitality that were responsible for its success, but also the ability to successfully mediate between very different cultures.

In 1986, MESC GmbH was jointly entrusted by the City of Wiesbaden and the Deutsche Klinik für Diagnostik (DKD) with the exclusive care of all Arab patients at the DKD in Wiesbaden. Due to the positive response and effective market development by MESC, the care of all international patients at the DKD became its responsibility.

In addition to patient care, MESC was also responsible for the exclusive marketing of the hospital abroad. In close coordination with the management of the DKD, the hospital's services were specifically expanded and adapted for international patients.

Christian El-Khouri - Medical Tourism Consultant

The sons of Hani El-Khouri, Martin M. El-Khouri and Christian Fadi El-Khouri, joined the management of the company through the establishment and acquisition of the subsidiary IPS-Germany. Having been involved in the company's operations for a long time, they expanded the consulting division of the business.

The relevance of transparency, integrity and humanity in health tourism continues to be underestimated by many participants in the field to this day. In order to achieve greater impact with our goal of helping hospitals, we offer consulting services to clinics. Together with our clients, we can create sustainable models for international patients in Germany.

What began in 1983 as the personal care of individual patients from the Arab world has, over more than four decades, grown into a comprehensive medical and health tourism consultancy. The knowledge gained at the bedside (how international patients think, what worries them and what earns their trust) now informs every piece of advice we give to hospitals, clinics and destinations that wish to welcome patients from abroad. Few consultancies can draw on this depth of first-hand operational experience, and fewer still have accompanied the field for as long as we have.

Today MESC is led by the second generation of the El-Khouri family, carrying forward the principles on which the company was founded. Integrity, transparency and a commitment to sustainable, long-term solutions remain at the heart of everything we do. We have no interest in quick fixes that flatter a single quarter's figures; instead, we help our clients build international patient programmes that are ethically sound, culturally sensitive and built to last, because that is what genuinely serves patients, and what protects the reputation of those who care for them.

Why MESC?

Choosing a consulting partner in international patient care is a decision about trust as much as expertise. Our clients come to us because we combine decades of hands-on operational experience with a genuine understanding of the cultures we serve, and because we hold ourselves to the same standards of transparency and care that we ask of them. These are the reasons hospitals and destinations choose to work with us:

01.

Over the past 40 years, we have dedicated ourselves to establishing the highest quality standards in international patient management. We have had the privilege of caring for over 52,000 patients from abroad, gaining extensive experience that we now use to strategically improve hospital processes for the benefit of patients.

02.

A proven track record with the patient's interest at the forefront. We have never and will never compromise when it comes to the primary interest of patients: Their health.

03.

Transparency, integrity and a passion for service form the foundation of our work. Every patient has the right to know what, why and how much they are paying, and why processes are structured in a certain way.

04.

As an owner-managed family business, we are always involved in decision-making and bear responsibility for our actions. This closeness and connection to the company is a competitive advantage, as we can act quickly and proactively.

05.

Our broad network at home and abroad gives us access to renowned experts in healthcare and health tourism. Different perspectives and our openness to new approaches enable us to always stay at the pulse of the times.

06.

Managing the entire international patient operations of the Deutsche Klinik für Diagnostik (DKD) Wiesbaden from 1986 to 2012 positioned us at the centre of international healthcare management for one of the world's leading diagnostic hospitals.
